AC Milan are reportedly showing interest in signing Manchester United defender Eric Bailly in January as per the report in ESPN

The 27-year-old joined the Old Trafford outfit back in 2016 from La Liga side Villarreal for around £29.2 million. However, the move hasn’t been a great success for the Ivorian as he struggled with his injury problems since arriving at the club and has failed to establish himself as a starter.

According to the report, Eric Bailly is looking to relocate his future due to lack of game time at the Old Trafford stadium, and AC Milan are among the suitors who want to sign the defender on loan until the end of this season.

The report further claims that the Red Devils are asking for a loan fee along with covering full salary in order to allow the Ivorian to leave. However, the Rossoneri do not have the financial muscle to agree on that proposal and therefore, the player’s camp believe that the 27-year-old might have to stay put at the Old Trafford stadium.

Should Manchester United allow Eric Bailly to join AC Milan?

Allowing Eric Bailly to leave the club and join AC Milan might not be a shrewd decision by Manchester United. The Red Devils are currently struggling with their defensive issues this season and the Ivorian’s departure could create even more dent in the backline.

With Harry Maguire struggling to showcase his best this season, giving Eric Bailly a string of opportunities alongside Raphael Varane could be the right decision by the Red Devils manager Ralf Rangnick.

The 27-year-old is quick, strong, brilliant in the air and comfortable with possession, therefore, the Ivory Coast international has almost every attribute to become a world-class centre-back. However, he is prone to making errors and that has been the biggest downside of him.

So, it will be interesting to see what Manchester United decide to do about the future of Eric Bailly. Rangnick has insisted on playing with a high defensive line and deploying two quick centre-backs will help the German boss to implement his style of football. Therefore, the Ivorian could be an asset for the 63-year-old boss.
