RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara has broken his silence about the recent links with Manchester United

The 23-years-old has been linked with a move to the Red Devils since the arrival of the interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The German boss has high regard for the Mali international and reportedly wants to bring the youngster to the Old Trafford stadium in this January transfer window.

Speaking with Bild quoted by Mirror, Amadou Haidara has revealed that he supported Manchester United when he was a child but he is focusing on the current season with Die Roten Bullen and happy in Germany.

The midfielder has also expressed his gratitude toward Ralf Rangnick and said that the German has played a big part in his career during the 63-year-old’s time at Leipzig. The midfielder said:

“Everyone had a favourite team as a kid. Mine was Manchester United. I was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, I liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson. But if you want to talk to me about rumours: I’m at Leipzig and I feel good.”

“Ralf played a very big role in my career. Don’t forget, when Leipzig wanted to get me, I tore my cruciate ligament. But Ralf said that I should come anyway. I wouldn’t have expected that back then. I’m very grateful to him because he really wanted me and gave me great confidence as a coach in Leipzig. He later told me to stay with RB and trust that Julian Nagelsmann would make me better.”

Will Manchester United sign Amadou Haidara in January?

Signing Amadou Haidara will be a very good addition for Manchester United. The Red Devils are looking to bring in a new defensive midfielder in January and the Mali international could be a perfect candidate to play in Ralf Rangnick’s system.

Both have already worked together at RB Leipzig and therefore, the midfielder can easily be infused in the squad and will take less time to settle down. The German boss likes to implement a high-pressing system and the 23-years-old’s energy will be a great asset for the United boss.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba is looking likely to leave the club and the future of Donny Van De Beek isn’t clear yet. So, strengthening the midfield should be the priority for Ralf Rangnick as Fred and Scott McTominay are the only two players who are suited to play in the midfield pivot role in the German boss’ high-intensity style of football.
