The games are coming thick and fast for Manchester United as following a disappointing defeat against Liverpool, the Red Devils will be travelling to the capital to encounter Arsenal on Saturday.
Ralf Rangnick’s side displayed a shambolic performance against their arch-rival in midweek and endured an agonizing 4-0 defeat at Anfield. The Reds scored twice in each half and came away with a comfortable victory.
Following this defeat, Manchester United are currently outsiders in the race for the top-four finish. The Red Devils have accumulated 54 points in 33 games so far, three points behind the fourth-placed Tottenham.
This will be a huge game for the record Premier League champions in order to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Anything other than a victory could end United’s hope to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition next season.
Manchester United team news against Arsenal:
Luke Shaw, Edinson Cavani and Raphael Varane are expected to remain sidelined due to injury issues, while Fred and Scott McTominey are in doubt ahead of this fixture.
Paul Pogba sustained a calf injury in midweek’s game against Liverpool and he could also miss out. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t involved in the previous fixture due to a tragedy in his family but he is expected to return in this fixture.
David De Gea will continue between the sticks. Having struggled to showcase his best this season, club captain Harry Maguire should be dropped from the starting eleven on Saturday. However, due to the lack of options available at the Rangnick’s disposal, the German might opt to go with the Englishman.
Victor Lindelof will keep his place alongside Maguire, while Diogo Dalot should return to his preferred right-back spot and the Brazilian fullback Alex Telles will start on the opposite side.
Nemanja Matic is expected to start as the deep-lying centre-midfielder. Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard should be the two more advanced midfielders in the 4-3-3 formation.
Jadon Sancho could return to the starting eleven, whilst Anthony Elanga should start on the opposite flank. Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for Manchester United.
Manchester United’s predicted line-up against Arsenal(4-3-3):
David De Gea; Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Alex Telles; Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard; Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Elanga
