Brazil manager Tite has compared Manchester United’s transfer target Antony with Neymar and Vinicius Jr.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a productive campaign last term with Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam, scoring 12 goals and notching up 10 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.

Following a promising display in the Dutch capital, the winger was called up for the Brazil national team and he was also part of the national squad that won gold in the Olympics last summer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old this summer as Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen on reuniting with his former player at the Old Trafford stadium this summer.

Brazil national team manager Tite was asked whether Neymar is the technical leader of his team or not. The 61-year-old brought Antony’s name into this conversation and said(via MEN):

“Yes absolutely! Especially now, to share the professionalism with a series of athletes with his characteristic. Antony has that characteristic, Raphinha too, Vinicius, Rodrygo does, too.”

Our View:

This is a huge compliment from Tite to compare Antony with Neymar and Vinicius Jr. Given they both have showcased their talents at the highest level of European football.

Manchester United are in pursuit of the Brazilian forward after missing out on the opportunity to sign Darwin Nunez. They both are different in terms of playing style. The Uruguayan is more of a number nine and likes to play through the middle, whilst Antony is a winger and can produce lethal crosses from the wide areas which will benefit Cristiano Ronaldo next season, should the club’s hierarchy sign the youngster this summer.

The Red Devils are yet to make a move in this summer’s transfer window and they are investigating most of their time to sign Frenkie de Jong who is Erik ten Hag’s priority target.

However, they are reportedly £10-15 million apart from what Barcelona are asking for their star man. So, the club’s hierarchy can’t waste more time on this deal as there are many more issues to be addressed this summer and they only have around seven weeks before the start of the next season.
