Manchester United will have to shift their focus to the Premier League after a midweek encounter against Atalanta as the city rival Manchester City will be stepping onto the Old Trafford stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils performed poorly against the Serie A side and found themselves trailing twice. But courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s heroics in the additional time on either side of both halves, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed to salvage one point from Bergamo.

Despite making a poor mistake in midweek, David De Gea should continue between the sticks as the Spaniard has been the most consistent performer so far this season for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what formation the Norwegian boss chooses to go for this encounter. Solskjaer has gone with a back three system in the past two games and might go with the same for this encounter, given the Old Trafford outfit have displayed poor defensive performances so far this season.

So, with Raphael Varane being injured for one month, the Red Devils boss might have to go with Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof at the back. Luke Shaw should be on the left side of the wing-back role and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be on the other side.

Following a midweek break, Fred might be starting alongside Scott McTominay in the midfield pivot role and Bruno Fernandes will continue in his preferred attacking midfield position.

After starting on the bench in midweek, Edinson Cavani will lead the line for Manchester United alongside in-form Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Solskjaer will be trying to implement a counter-attacking system against Pep Guardiola’s side, so, the Red Devils boss should deploy Marcus Rashford for this encounter to take advantage of City’s high defensive line with the Englishman’s pace.

Manchester United predicted line-up against Manchester City(3-4-1-2):

De Gea; Bailly, Lindelof, Maguire; Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Fred, Shaw; Fernandes; Cavani, Ronaldo

Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

It will be hard for Manchester United to break Manchester City down who has a great defensive record this season. On the other hand, Guardiola’s side will be the favourite to win against a struggling United side on Saturday.
