After an important 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Manchester United will welcome Swiss side Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils displayed an energetic performance against the Eagles on Sunday afternoon in Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge but had to wait until the 77th minute to find the breakthrough and it came from an unlikely goalscorer Fred.

The Old Trafford outfit have already qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League as the group leader and therefore, we expect that the German boss will shuffle his squad and give the fringe players opportunities to prove their worth.

Champions League Manchester United: David De Gea will be rested for this encounter and Dean Henderson might get a rare outing. In the defence, Rangnick would want to assess the other options and give Eric Bailly a chance to showcase his talent and alongside the Ivorian, club captain Harry Maguire should continue in the centre back spot.

Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles performed excellently in the last two games against Arsenal and Crystal Palace, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw could return to the starting eleven for this encounter.

Fred and Scott McTominay displayed productive performance on Sunday and might be given a break in midweek and Nemanja Matic and Donny Van De Beek should start in the midfield pivot role.

The German boss deployed a 4-2-2-2 system against Patrick Vieira’s side and it is expected that he will continue with the same formation as well. Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho started in the inverted winger position on Sunday but they will be rested against the Swiss champions and Jesse Lingard and Amad Diallo might start.

Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo will also be given a midweek break and Mason Greenwood and  Anthony Elanga could lead the line for Rangnick’s side in this consolation game.
