Piers Morgan has claimed that it is ‘highly unlikely’ that Cristiano Ronaldo would play ‘another game’ for Manchester United.
If recent reports are to be believed then the 37-year-old is eager to leave Manchester United just after joining the club last summer.
The forward enjoyed a productive campaign last season despite playing in an underperforming Red Devils team, scoring 24 goals and notching up three assists in 37 appearances in all competitions as per SofaScore.
Speaking on talkSports, Piers Morgan has claimed that he had several contacts with Cristiano Ronaldo and he believes the Portuguese superstar might not play ‘another game’ for Manchester United.
Morgan further stated that the forward does not feel that Manchester United will be able to match his ambitions next season and the additions the club are making aren’t enough to challenge for big prizes.
The broadcaster also said Cristiano Ronaldo might end up somewhere which will be ‘surprising’ to everyone. He said:
“I have had quite a lot of contact in the last week. I certainly think it’d be highly unlikely if Cristiano Ronaldo plays another game for Manchester United. I don’t think Cristiano feels Manchester United share his ambitions.
“I think he feels that the signings they’re making, the commitment they showed last season, where they finished up and a lack of Champions League football…
“I think he could end up somewhere quite surprising.”
Manchester United have become a club full of drama in recent years and the news outlets are trying to make their profits from it, given the Red Devils are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
From Cristiano Ronaldo wanting out to Frenkie de Jong doesn’t want to come. These news are all extremely difficult to digest for Manchester United fans. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has just joined the club and the signs are promising so far, the fans can hope that better things might lie ahead after watching the first three games in the preseason.
However, the Dutch boss is having to face situations like this. It had always been a daunting task for Erik ten Hag to take the club back to the summit. And situations like this will make his job even more difficult.
It will be a huge loss if Cristiano Ronaldo ends up leaving the club this summer, given Manchester United are thin in number in their attacking department. However, if the Portuguese superstar does not want to stay then there is no point in trying to persuade the forward to prolong his future at the club.
