Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is linked with a move back to his former club Crystal Palace as per the report in English outlet The Athletic.
The 24-years-old joined the Red Devils back in 2019 for a fee of around £50 million following a stellar campaign at Selhurst Park. The Englishman enjoyed a productive debut campaign at Old Trafford under the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, things have gone downhill for the fullback this season. He lost his first-team place following the departure of the Norwegian boss. And recent reports are claiming that the incoming boss Erik ten Hag does not feel the 24-years-old would be the right fit for his system.
And the report in The Athletic is claiming that Crystal Palace are considering bringing back their academy graduate in the summer. The report further claims that a loan move is looking likely for the fullback rather than a permanent switch.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United with the reputation of an excellent player in defence but needs improvement going forward.
However, despite playing more than two years under the former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tutelage, there hasn’t been any development in the 24-years-old’s attributes going forward.
So, this could be the right decision to cash in on the defender and raise the transfer budget in order to address the other issues in the squad. Manchester United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick has alluded that the squad need big changes next season and therefore, they need to have a big budget to address every area.
However, given the Champions League qualification is looking highly unlikely, the Red Devils could face a big blow financially. But, the United hierarchy have invested heavily in the past whenever they failed to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition.
