Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is reportedly displeased by the recent speculations, claiming that the Dutchman wants full power at Manchester United as per the report in English outlet The Telegraph(via Metro).

The Red Devils hierarchy are currently in search of a new permanent manager and the 52-year-old is reportedly leading the race to take charge at Old Trafford after leapfrogging Mauricio Pochettino in the race.

Meanwhile, recent reports were suggesting that Ten Hag wants to make sure that he has the full power of making the decision about the players’ future and in the transfer market before finalizing a deal with the record Premier League champions.

However, the report in Telegraph claims that this is not the case and the Dutchman is even ‘irritated’ by the recent reports. The 52-year-old is willing to work with a sporting director who will take charge of the players’ transfers and he will be focusing on coaching the team.

The report further claims that the Dutchman is keen on joining the Red Devils with the existing structure and he hasn’t made any demands regarding taking over the control.

However, Ten Hag wants to be involved in the transfer business. The recent reports about the Dutchman wanting to bring his full coaching team who are currently working at Ajax is also reportedly false. The 52-year-old is happy to work with an assistant who has Premier League experience and also has connections with the club.

Our View:

This report is contrary to what the recent reports were suggesting. However, having significant amounts of control regarding incomings and outgoings would have helped Erik Ten Hag to implement his philosophy at Manchester United.

The Red Devils do not have a good structure at the club and they have shown their frailties to make the right decision over the past few years. So, unless they appoint a specialist Sporting director, the Dutchman might struggle to find success at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently linked with players like Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips. They are all too expensive and the club’s hierarchy might struggle to resolve the other issues if they were to go for the aforementioned players.

This shows the incompetence of scouting players outside the Premier League. So, it will be interesting to see on what term Ten Hag will decide to join Manchester United, given the club’s inability to make the right decisions.
