Manchester United’s incoming boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly an admirer of Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn and the 52-year-old wants a summer move for the Netherlands international as per the report in English outlet The Athletic

The former PSV Eindhoven forward joined the north London club back in 2020. Despite enjoying a great debut by scoring against Manchester City, the 24-years-old failed to establish himself as a starter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bergwijn was wanted by ten Hag last summer and was linked with a move to Ajax Amsterdam. But, a deal never materialised. And now the Dutch boss wants to bring him to the Old Trafford Stadium.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the 24-years-old is looking to leave the north London club in search of regular playing time. And while Ajax are still interested in the Netherlands international, many other clubs are also eyeing a move for the talented winger.

Our View:

Steven Bergwijn will be an interesting option for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. Despite failing to stamp his authority in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, the 24-years-old could flourish at the Old Trafford stadium if he were to join the record Premier League champions.

The Dutch boss signed many players at Ajax who struggled to showcase their best at their previous teams but enjoyed a great time under the 52-year-old’s tutelage. So, the Old Trafford faithful will be hoping to experience the same should the club’s hierarchy sign the winger.

Meanwhile, Bergwijn could resolve the Red Devils’ right-wing issue and he will be a feasible solution, given the recent reports are claiming that Spurs would ask around £25 million for the 24-years-old.

Manchester United had gone down a route where they signed big-name players by spending huge money. However, that policy didn’t bring success to the club. So, signing young players who are eager to showcase their talents at a higher level might not be a bad thing for the Red Devils.
