Erling Braut Haaland has expressed his frustration on Borussia Dortmund management amid interest from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old is enjoying yet another terrific campaign in the German Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and notching up five assists in 13 league appearances.

The Red Devils are among the club alongside other European giants who are interested in signing the talented Norwegian forward. And the Old Trafford club are looking to use their interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s relation with the player’s representatives to break a deal in the summer.

The former Red Bulls Salzburg forward has a release clause of €75m(£66m) in his current contract with the German giants which can be triggered at the end of this season. Therefore, the BVB hierarchy are trying to understand the youngster’s stance on staying at the club beyond this season, given Marco Rose’s side are keen on holding their star man for one more season.

Speaking with the press after scoring a brace against Freiburg, quoted by MEN, Haaland has revealed that BVB are pressuring him to make a decision about his future as quickly as possible. But, the player is not happy about the club’s approach in the middle of the season where they are still in the title race.

Haaland further claims that he can not focus if the club keep on putting pressure on him and that could affect his performance on the pitch. The striker said:

“Well, the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do, is play football. But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.

“As I said they have put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that. I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for my club and the fans. But now it says itself that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so now is the time to get things started. Yeah, that is what they want [for Haaland] to decide future. It means that things will happen now. I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football because that is when I am at my best.

“Not when other things come into my mind. They have put pressure [on] for a while. So it is time to get started [negotiating]. [When do you want to make a decision] Not now because we are in the middle of a difficult period with a lot of games. All I want to do is play football but I can’t do that now.”

Can Manchester United sign Erling Braut Haaland?

Erling Braut Haaland will be a statement signing for Manchester United, given Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are all lining up a move for the highly-rated forward.

Edinson Cavani will leave the club at the end of this season and Cristiano Ronaldo will be 37, in February, therefore, signing a new striker should be high on the list for the Red Devils hierarchy. And if they can secure a deal for the Norwegian forward, then that will be a great addition for Manchester United.

However, in order to sign the 21-year-old, the Red Devils will have to secure a place for the Champions League next season. Ralf Rangnick’s side are currently sitting in seventh place in the table and their recent performances do not reflect that they will be able to finish in the top four spot. So, it will be interesting to see how the Red Devils finish this season.
