Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Braut Haaland is reportedly set to reject any offer from Manchester United as per the report in ESPN(via The Sun).

The 21-year-old is seemingly ready to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer after enjoying a stellar spell in Germany over the past few campaigns, scoring an impressive 80 goals in 84 appearances in all competitions.

According to the report, the Norwegian’s camp do not believe that moving to the Old Trafford outfit will be the right move for the youngster’s career at the moment, given the record Premier League champions will not be able to match the forward’s lofty ambitions.

With the Red Devils looking likely to miss out on securing a place in the Champions League next season, persuading the 21-year-old to join the Old Trafford stadium will be difficult for the club’s hierarchy. The report further claims that Real Madrid and Manchester City are the two leading candidates to secure a deal for the highly-rated striker.

Our View:

Signing Erling Braut Haaland would be a great acquisition for Manchester United. With Edinson Cavani set to leave at the end of this season and Cristiano Ronaldo also looking likely to leave if the Red Devils fail to finish in the top four spot, strengthening the forward line will be an absolute necessity for the club’s hierarchy in the summer.

However, apart from strengthening the upfront, the record Premier League champions will need to sign resources in the midfield as well. Therefore, the Red Devils’ hierarchy will need to be smart in the transfer market in order to fill the holes in the current squad.

Erling Braut Haaland will be an expansive signing and Manchester United might struggle to address the other issues if they were to go for the highly-rated forward. On top of that, the 21-year-old has struggled with his injury problems over the past few campaigns and the Norwegian missed a crucial stage of this season due to injury issues.

Therefore, it could be a blessing in disguise for Manchester United to not be able to sign Haaland. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are currently in search of a new manager and the new boss should decide who will be signed by the club’s hierarchy.
