Manchester United’s incoming manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly interested in Stade de Reims forward Hugo Ekitike as per the report in ESPN

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign this term, scoring 10 goals and assisting two times in 23 appearances in all competitions. Despite enjoying an excellent campaign, the youngster did play the majority of the second half of this season due to a hamstring injury.

The forward was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United back in January, but, a deal never materialised. On the other hand, apart from the Tyneside club, the 19-year-old is attracting interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

According to the report, Manchester United have enquired about a potential summer of Hugo Ekitike and a fee of around €15 million will be enough for the youngster’s signature. The report further claims that despite interest growing in the Frenchman, he hasn’t made any decisions about his future yet.

Our View:

Signing Hugo Ekitike could be a very good acquisition for Manchester United. Despite being tall, the youngster is quick and can dribble as well. He can play passes between the lines and also has the ability to link up play. The 19-year-old works hard and can be useful in pressing the opposition higher up the field.

However, the biggest downside of his game is his discipline, however, he can improve on it with experience. The Red Devils will be looking for a squad overhaul in the summer and signing young talents will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy.

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick has earlier stated that the Red Devils need to sign at least two forward players and the 19-year-old could be a very good choice, given his age and the transfer fee.

Manchester United need to find talent outside the Premier League. They will have to address multiple issues in the summer and signing feasible players with higher potential will be the right decision.
