Latest football news now: Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes was full of praise for new signing Jadon Sancho after the youngster’s display on Tuesday night against Villarreal.

The Red Devils beat the Yellow Submarines by 2-0 thanks to the contributions from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho. Following this victory, the Old Trafford outfit have secured a place for the knock-out stage of the Champions League as a group leader.

Speaking with BT Sports(Via The Sports Review), Paul Scholes was full of admiration for Jadon Sancho and said that the England international was the best player on the night for Manchester United. He said:

“He looked fitter than he has done. I was really pleased for him today. He’s a really young player who’s had a difficult start. I thought he was United’s best player tonight. He’s such a clever footballer. I’m really pleased for him, getting his goal as well. And I think he’s fitter, he looks half a stone slimmer. I hope he really kicks on from here.”

The former United defender Wes Brown was involved in the discussion and stated that Sancho played with a swagger against the Spanish side like he used to do with Borussia Dortmund and looked confident on the ball. He said:

“It will [give him confidence]. I think you’ve seen in the last couple of games that confidence more. Today, he kept running at players and he had that swagger that we often saw at Dortmund. He didn’t look to get the ball and turn back, he wanted to run at people and as a defender that’s a scary thing.”

Latest football news now: How far can Manchester United go in the Champions League?

Latest football news now: Despite defeating Villarreal comfortably by 2-0, Manchester United failed to display a promising performance as the Red Devils were tentative in the first half and David De Gea had to bail out Michael Carrick’s side on several occasions.

With Chelsea and Arsenal fixtures on the horizon, the Red Devils will have to improve their performance as soon as possible to find decent results in these two games.

Manchester United are currently searching for an interim manager and they will have to accelerate their search, given the games will come thick and fast during this winter period.

So, it will be interesting to see what the Red Devils hierarchy will decide about the managerial position. Continuing with the current group of coaches will not improve anything for Manchester United and the necessity of a new manager is apparent.
