Latest Manchester United transfer news: Mino Riola has reportedly demanded two things from Manchester United over a potential January departure of Paul Pogba as per the report from journalist Ian McGarry.

The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and hasn’t shown any signs of committing future at the Old Trafford stadium. The Frenchman will be open to starting talks with foreign clubs in January and signing a pre-contract.

Speaking on the Transfer window podcast the journalist claimed that Mino Riola has asked Manchester United to accept an offer of as little as £16.8m(€20m) to allow Paul Pogba to leave in January and recoup some transfer fee.

The journalist further stated that the super agent has asked the Red Devils to grant the loyalty bonus to Paul Pogba which the Frenchman would have been given if he stays at the club until the end of this season. McGarry said:

“[Raiola] has had conversations with Manchester United and made a certain list of demands with regards to Pogba’s potential move in January. One of them is, on the basis of what he cost Manchester United, then the fee should be no more than what is the remainder of his contract, compared to the money they paid. Which would see him valued at under €20m, which seems amazing but there you go.

“But also that should Pogba leave in January, then he should be paid a loyalty – irony in brackets – bonus that he’s due at the end of his contract in July. That we believe amounts to around €4.5m (£3.7m) net. So those are the terms that Mino has set for Pogba to leave and for United to get some money back. But obviously, that’s a pittance compared to what they have invested over the last four-and-a-half years.”

Latest Manchester United transfer news: Will Paul Pogba leave in January?

Latest Manchester United transfer news: Losing Paul Pogba for free will be a huge loss for Manchester United. After losing the 28-year-old for free previously and buying him for a record £89 million and then losing the midfielder for free again, could raise the question mark about the Red Devils hierarchy’s decision making.

The Frenchman hasn’t had a great time since joining the Old Trafford outfit and neither José Mourinho nor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed to bring the best out of the midfielder.

The club’s inconsistent performances during this period didn’t help the 28-year-old to settle down and this might be the catalyst of the highly-rated midfielder’s inconsistent displays on the pitch since making the move from Juventus back in 2016.

So, parting ways will be the right decision for both parties. Manchester United currently need a defensive midfielder and replacing the Frenchman with a specialist holding midfielder will be a shrewd decision from the Red Devils hierarchy.
