Latest on Manchester United transfer news: Manchester United are reportedly showing interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong for a cut-price deal in January as per the report in Spanish outlet El Nacional

The 24-years-old joined the Blaugrana back in 2019 from Ajax Amsterdam for around £67 million. However, the midfielder hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations at the Camp Nou stadium and didn’t get the chance to play in his preferred position due to the presence of Sergio Busquets.

According to the report, Manchester United are eager to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong in the January transfer window and have reportedly offered £47 million to the Catalan giants. However, the offer didn’t match the Spanish club’s valuation as they want around £73 million as the midfielder still has four years remaining in his current contract.

A report from Daily Star claims that Ralf Rangnick was unimpressed by Manchester United’s midfield duo Fred and Scott McTominay’s display against Crystal Palace and wants to sign De Jong in January.

Latest on Manchester United transfer news: Can Manchester United sign Frenkie De Jong this January?

Latest on Manchester United transfer news: Frenkie De Jong will be a great addition for Manchester United if the record Premier League champions can sign the midfielder in this January transfer window. The Red Devils are looking to bring in a new midfielder and are linked with the RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara, but signing the Dutch midfielder will be a great acquisition for the Old Trafford outfit.

Although the 24-years-old failed to showcase his talent at the Camp Nou stadium, he could be a perfect addition to Ralf Rangnick’s system. The midfielder’s quality with the ball will help the German boss to play with a quicker tempo.

Scott McTominay showcased his frailties to play one-touch passes against Crystal Palace and misplaced quite a few passes during the game. Therefore, signing De Jong will make United tidier with the possession.

Meanwhile, following a crucial victory against Crystal Palace, Manchester United will be looking to keep their winning run going when they meet Young Boys in midweek. The Red Devils will have favourable fixtures in the next 12 games in the Premier League and will be looking to accumulate as many points as possible to close the gap at the top.
