Manchester United are reportedly in pursuit of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as per the report in La Republica(via

The 27-year-old is enjoying a stellar campaign this term under the new manager Maurizio Sarri, scoring nine goals and assisting as many times in 30 Serie A appearances.

According to the report, the Red Devils have identified the Serbian as the apt candidate to replace Paul Pogba who is expected to leave the club at the end of this season.

The report further claims that Manchester United are ready to offer around €60 million for Milinkovic-Savic. However, the Serie A giants are asking for a fee of around €80 million for their starman.

Meanwhile, the Old Trafford outfit are also preparing to offer a salary package of €7 million a year to the highly-rated midfielder. However, signing the 27-year-old might not be easy for the Red Devils, given the reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan are also keen on securing a deal for the Serbia international.

Our View:

Signing Milinkovic-Savic could be a very good acquisition for Manchester United. The midfielder is quick, strong, good in the air, has an eye for scoring goals and also can create opportunities for the forward players.

However, Lazio are looking to rebuild their squad under the new manager Maurizio Sarri and the Italian boss will not be happy to lose a key member of his first-team squad. So, the Red Devils will have to break their bank in order to persuade the Biancocelesti hierarchy into selling their starman.

The Red Devils are currently looking to finalize a deal for the next manager and without the consent of the new boss, the club’s hierarchy should not invest the aforementioned fee in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing draw against Leicester, Manchester United have now lost more ground in their quest for Champions League football. They are currently sitting in seventh in the league with 51 points in 30 games.
