Manchester United are reportedly considering terminating the contract with Ralf Rangnick and dismissing the German at the end of this season as per the report in Spanish outlet AS.
After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils hierarchy decided to appoint the 63-year-old boss for an interim role until the end of this season. Following the conclusion of the German’s tenure as the manager, he will become the consultant of the club for two more years.
However, as per the report, Manchester United’s hierarchy have admitted internally that appointing Rangnick as the manager was a mistake following their elimination from the Champions League. Few senior members of the squad have also questioned the credentials of the 63-year-old boss to manage a club of the Red Devils’ stature.
The report further claims that the club’s management are beginning to think about firing Rangnick despite having two more years in the contract.
Sacking Ralf Rangnick will be a huge mistake from Manchester United. The German boss inherited a squad which was assembled by the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and there were big issues inside the dressing room which carried on from the previous regime.
The 63-year-old boss exposed the dressing room situation which didn’t go down well among a few players and they started to leak information to the press.
Meanwhile, the fans were excited about the appointment of the German boss due to the fact that he will become the consultant of the club for two more years, given his reputation of building successful football clubs.
However, dismissing Rangnick without giving him the necessary time to do that will not be a shrewd decision. Manchester United should take advantage of the 63-year-old’s knowledge and expertise in appointing the next manager and improving their business in the transfer market.
