Manchester United fans want Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag to become the successor of Ralf Rangnick

After dismissing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the record Premier League champions are in search of a new permanent manager. The German tactician has been appointed for an interim basis and he will take over the consultancy role from next season.

The Red Devils fans expressed their verdict on a Twitter poll which was created by journalist Tom McDermott. The journalist asked who the Old Trafford faithful would like to see being appointed as the next permanent manager among Ralf Rangnick, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag. And the majority of the fans made their case for the Dutchman.

More than 3000 people voted in the poll and Ten Hag got 79% of the vote. Mauricio Pochettino got 16% and Rangnick received the fewest votes, only five per cent.

Our View:

Erik Ten Hag could be a perfect candidate to take over the managerial position at Manchester United. However, it is not clear whether he can guide the club towards success.

There are plenty of issues inside the club at the moment which is restricting the Red Devils from reaching the top. The biggest problem is the club’s management. The members who make the major decisions do not have enough expertise in working for a football club.

However, given Rangnick set to become the consultant of the club, the fans could be optimistic about their future. But, there is still doubt as to how much power the German will be given to make the decisions.

Meanwhile, Manchester United had to endure a disappointing defeat on Friday night against Middlesbrough in the F.A Cup fourth-round tie. Despite dominating the game, the Red Devils were beaten in the penalty shootout where Anthony Elanga missed the penultimate kick.
