Manchester United are reportedly linked with a move for PSG star Marco Verratti as a replacement for Paul Pogba as per the report in Spanish outlet Fichajes.Net.
The Frenchman is looking likely to leave the club for free at the end of this season and the Red Devils hierarchy are ready to invest in their midfield department this summer.
According to the report, Verratti could leave the French capital following the Parisiens’ persistent struggle in the Champions League. The report further claims that PSG could accept around €55 million(£46m) for their star man who still has two years remaining in his current contract.
Manchester United are eyeing a similar profile to Pogba to replace the Frenchman and the club’s hierarchy believe that the Italian international would be an apt replacement for the World Cup winner.
Meanwhile, securing a deal for the 29-year-old will not be easy for the Red Devils as Serie A giants AS Roma and Inter Milan are also plotting a move for the PSG midfielder.
Marco Verratti could be a good fit for Manchester United. However, signing the Italian might not be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy. The Red Devils are set to go through yet another rebuild from next season and signing younger players with high potential will be the right approach.
The record Premier League champions are currently in search of a new permanent manager and until they finalize a deal for the next manager, the club’s hierarchy should not make any move in the transfer market.
The Red Devils are linked with Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and Luis Enrique to succeed Ralf Rangnick. They all have different philosophies and therefore, it shows that the club management do not have a clear vision of which way they want to proceed.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag is the favourite candidate among the fans and the club interviewed the Dutchman last week, but there hasn’t been any concrete proposal presented to the 52-year-old by the club’s hierarchy.
