Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has notified Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that Darwin Nunez might not possess all the attributes to become successful in the Premier League

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to strengthen their attacking department this summer, while the Benfica star is high on the agenda of the 52-year-old boss.

The Uruguayan forward enjoyed a stellar campaign this term, scoring 34 goals and notching four assists in 41 games in all competitions.

Speaking on bein Sports(via MEN), the Frenchman has stated that despite enjoying a great season in the Portuguese league this season, the Uruguayan might struggle to cope with the intensity and the physicality of the Premier League. He said:

“We spoke about Nunez before the game. That’s where you realise the physical power in the Premier League. What looks very quick in the Portuguese league suddenly, when he was confronted with the pace and power of Van Dijk or Konate, he couldn’t cope.”

Our View:

The 22-year-old forward, who is 188 cm tall and quick as well, possesses enough attributes to become successful in any league around the world. Meanwhile, he is also brilliant in the air, which will benefit Manchester United on either end of the pitch if the club’s hierarchy manage to get this deal over the line.

Darwin Nunez is a hard-working sticker and constantly presses the opposition defender without the possession. And this will help Erik ten Hag to implement a high-pressing system.

However, there is a question mark how the youngster will cope with the intensity of the Premier League in his first season. But, he has the potential to become a mainstay in the United’s forward line in future.

Manchester United are currently working on multiple deals. Frenkie De Jong and Jurriën Timber are the other two options who are linked with a move to the Old Trafford stadium. Meanwhile, the club’s hierarchy are also working on offloading players as Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are all set to leave the club this summer.
