Manchester United news of today: Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has reportedly emerged as a shock replacement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, should the Norwegian face the worst, as per the report in English outlet Independent.
Following an agonizing defeat against Liverpool, Solskjaer’s job is under real threat and plenty of names are linked with a possible move to the Old Trafford stadium. With Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte, Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino already being linked, now the Rojiblancos boss has also entered the race to become the next United manager.
According to the report, The Old Trafford hierarchy are long admirers of the Argentine manager and his energetic character on the touchline. They reportedly wanted to bring him back in 2014 but Los Colchonero boss eventually decided to stay put at the Spanish capital after the Champions League final defeat against the arch-rival Real Madrid.
The report further claims that following the recent downfall of Manchester United under Solskjaer, the Red Devils are pondering about a move for Diego Simeone. However, the report also stated that the club management believe that a move for the Rojiblancos manager is currently impossible as he has just signed a long term contract with the defending La Liga champions.
Manchester United news of today: Diego Simeone linked with a move to Manchester United as the replacement of Solskjaer:
Manchester United news of today: There are plenty of managers with different profiles linked with a move to Manchester United. This shows that there are no clear plans in place among the Red Devils management about what should be their next step, should they sack Solskjaer.
The Old Trafford club have already made quite a few bad choices since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and it seems that history could repeat itself. Manchester United currently do not want to dismiss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of his duties, despite the recent downfall. This shows the incompetence inside United’s hierarchy.
The Red Devils have displayed underwhelming performance throughout this season and it was an all-time low against the adversaries, Liverpool. Meanwhile, Solskjaer’s side will be travelling to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday to encounter Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and anything but a win could force the United board to sack the manager reluctantly.
