Manchester United news of today: Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly expressed his desire to make Mauricio Pochettino the next Manchester United manager if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is relieved of his duties, as per the report in Daily Star

The Norwegian boss is on the knife-edge after losing 5-0 against Liverpool at Old Trafford. The fans are asking for immediate dismissal of the manager, but the club have decided to give Solskjaer another chance in the next three games to rectify his mistakes.

According to the report, Mauricio Pochettino is the number one choice for Manchester United to replace Solskjaer if the Norwegian manager is dismissed of his position. Former boss Sir Alex Ferguson has also shown admiration towards the former Tottenham Hotspur manager and wants Pochettino to take over the managerial role at Old Trafford.

The report further claims that the United boss is given time due to the fact that the Red Devils hierarchy are looking to take time and understand the availability of the PSG manager. However, it will not be easy to finalize a deal for the Argentine during the mid-season as the French club’s management will not allow a departure at this stage.

Manchester United news of today: Can Manchester United appoint Pochettino after listening to Sir Alex Ferguson?

Manchester United news of today: Appointing Mauricio Pochettino could turn out to be a very good decision by Manchester United. However, given the fact that the Argentine hasn’t been able to win any major honours during his twelve years of managerial career, there will always be a question mark if he can rectify that record.

Antonio Conte, who is the favourite to become the next Manchester United manager according to the bookmakers, could have been a better option for the Red Devils. As the Italian has managed to win league titles wherever he has gone.

Zinedine Zidane, Eric Ten Hag and Brandon Rodgers are the other names who are linked with a move to Manchester United. However, the former Real Madrid manager has reportedly expressed his unwillingness to take over this job and bringing the Ajax manager during this midseason might be tough for the Red Devils hierarchy.

So, it will be interesting to see who will become the next Manchester United manager if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was to be sacked. However, if the Norwegian can produce positive performances in the next three games then it will be interesting to see what the Red Devils hierarchy will decide about Solskjaer’s future.
