Former Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart has issued a big warning to the Manchester United players after Erik Ten Hag is closing in on a deal to join the Old Trafford stadium.

The Red Devils’ hierarchy are reportedly set to appoint the 52-year-old as their next permanent manager and this will be their fifth managerial appointment since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking on Z Select(via Express), the former Tottenham midfielder appreciated the Ajax boss’ decision to join the Old Trafford outfit and slammed the current Red Devils players. He said:

“Ten Hag to Manchester United? It’s nice. You don’t let a club like Manchester United wait. These players (#MUFC) can’t have any excuses anymore. They made so many managers leave while they are playing so bad. Now they get a manager who will be very clear and will present his plan. Those who won’t cooperate will get thrown out.”

Our View:

Erik Ten Hag is the most progressive manager that Manchester United have appointed since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer neither of the aforementioned bosses managed to entertain the Old Trafford faithful nor did they manage to implement an identity.

However, the Dutchman’s system should bring joy to the Mancunians and will certainly provide an identity. But, the most concerning issue will be how the club’s hierarchy will cooperate with the new manager.

The record Premier League champions had shown their incompetency over the past decade and the fans will be hoping that things could be different this time around following the arrival of the new CEO.

Meanwhile, if Manchester United continue to struggle despite appointing Erik Ten Hag who has showcased his credentials over the past few campaigns, then there will be very little hope for the Old Trafford faithful to experience the glory days in the recent future.
