Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Olympique de Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara as per the report in Spanish outlet Marca

The Red Devils were thought to make a move for a new midfielder ahead of this January transfer window, but recent reports were suggesting that they might wait until summer before strengthening the middle of the park.

However, according to Marca, Manchester United have enquired about Kamara in order to sign him in January. The midfielder has entered the final six months of his current contract and is allowed to agree on a pre-contract with foreign clubs. But, the Premier League giants are keen on finalising a cut-price deal for the 22-year-old.

The report further claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Frenchman but the Red Devils are leading the race to lure the Marseille man.

Should Manchester United sign Kamara in January?

Signing Boubacar Kamara in January will be a shrewd purchase by Manchester United. With Paul Pogba looking likely to leave the club at the end of this season, replacing the 28-year-old should be the priority for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

The Old Trafford club have been struggling with their midfield issues over the past few campaigns as Nemanja Matic is approaching the twilight of his career and Donny Van De Beek has failed to make his mark since joining the club.

Therefore, the necessity of strengthening the midfield is apparent. After Anthony Martial’s potential departure, Jesse Lingard is also looking likely to leave in January. So, the German boss should be allowed to bring in new faces in January.

Manchester United’s fixture will get tougher from next month and they will have to be involved in three different competitions. Therefore, strengthening the squad could help the 63-year-old boss to achieve silverware at the end of this season.
