Manchester United are reportedly showing active interest in RB Leipzig winger Christopher Nkunku as per the report in German outlet Sky Sports Germany

The 24-years-old joined the Bundesliga giants back in 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain for around £10 million. After a promising couple of seasons with the Die Roten Bullen, the Frenchman is enjoying a stellar campaign this term, scoring 25 goals and notching up 10 assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

According to the report, Manchester United are keen on signing Christopher Nkunku in the summer, however, the record Premier League champions will have to face a stiff challenge from the city rival Manchester City and the Frenchman’s former club PSG for the highly-rated forward.

The report further claims that Domenico Tedesco’s side might ask a fee of around £50 million for their star forward who has a contract until 2024 and there is no release clause included in the deal. The price might increase if the Frenchman continues to showcase his best until the end of this season.

Our View:

Signing Christopher Nkunku will be an excellent addition to the Manchester United squad. The winger has the ability to create chances for the striker and is also efficient in scoring goals. So, he will be a great acquisition for the Old Trafford outfit.

The Red Devils are currently thin in wide areas. Following Anthony Martial’s departure and Mason Greenwood’s suspension, Ralf Rangnick has Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford at his disposal at the moment. On top of that, Rashford is struggling to showcase his best this season.

With Sancho and Nkunku on the flanks, Manchester United will have extremely creative wingers if the Red Devils hierarchy were to finalize the deal, which will benefit Cristiano Ronaldo next season.

Despite sitting in the fourth spot with 47 points in 27 games, the lead is looking unsustainable for Manchester United as fifth-placed Arsenal are only two points behind with three games in hand. The fixture will get tougher for the Red Devils as they will have to encounter Manchester City next on Sunday before facing off Tottenham Hotspur next week in the Premier League.
