Manchester United are reportedly preparing to start contract talks with Fred and Diogo Dalot as per the report in ESPN

A flurry of the Red Devils players will enter the final 12 months of their contract at the end of this season as De Gea, Rashford, Fred, Ronaldo, Dalot, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones’ current contract will end in June 2023. Although they all have an option to extend the deal for one more year, it is not clear yet how many of them will end up playing under the new manager next season.

As per the report, many of the aforementioned players might be shown the exit door to raise the transfer budget, given the next permanent manager might want to bring in some new faces who will be better suited for his system. However, Fred and Diogo Dalot are expected to be awarded contract extensions.

The report further claims that extending Rashford’s contract will be high on the agenda for Manchester United. However, the Englishman’s recent performances do not reflect that he should be given a salary hike.

Our View:

Manchester United currently have a squad assembled by different managers with different philosophies. So, the new manager might have to face a big challenge to find the right balance in his system next season.

Having managed the squad for more than six months, Ralf Rangnick will understand which of those players deserve a new contract and the Red Devils hierarchy should appoint a manager after consulting with the German.

Meanwhile, the 63-year-old is expected to become the advisor of the club as he hasn’t done enough in the managerial role to be given the permanent position.

Manchester United need a qualified candidate in the management department who can take the right decision and guide the club to the top. Therefore, the German tactician will become the consultant of the club will be better than staying in the managerial role.
