Manchester United are reportedly showing active interest in West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as per the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are reportedly looking for a squad overhaul in the summer and they are willing to invest in their midfield department. Recent reports were suggesting that the club’s hierarchy are eyeing a defensive-minded midfielder and an attacking midfielder as well.
Speaking on Hammers Chat(via Football Fancast), Romano reported that Manchester United are prioritizing a move for Declan Rice in the summer. There are plenty of admirers inside the Red Devils’ hierarchy for the England International and they believe that the 23-year-old will be a perfect addition in order to resolve their midfield issues.
The Italian journalist further claimed that the record Premier League champions will sign a defensive midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window and the Hammers captain is high on the wishlist for the Old Trafford outfit. Romano said:
“He is top of the list for Man United since a long time. Man Utd dream of Declan Rice, they consider him the perfect player for their approach for the new season. Man United will sign a defensive midfield and Declan Rice is the player they want.”
Signing Declan Rice will be a great acquisition for Manchester United. The midfielder can play in the holding midfield position as well as in the centre-back. The 23-year-old has also improved his traits going forward this season.
The Englishman is good in the air, quick, can play threading passes between the lines and also has an eye for long passes. Therefore, the midfielder has every attribute to become an integral part of the Red Devils’ squad in days to come.
Meanwhile, he is a regular starter for England and also played a key role in the Three Lions’ run in the Euro 2020 last summer. So, he has proven himself that he can perform at the highest level.
However, the biggest stumbling block for Manchester United in finalizing a deal for Declan Rice will be his price. West Ham have already slapped a whopping £150 million price tag on their star man and the Red Devils will have to break their bank in order to secure a deal for the Englishman.
