Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Monaco youngster Aurelien Tchouameni as per the report in Spanish outlet AS

The Red Devils are keen on strengthening their midfield in the summer transfer window and the France international is among the names on the wishlist for the Red Devils hierarchy. The 22-year-old is enjoying a productive campaign this term in Ligue 1, scoring a solitary goal and assisting as many times in 26 league appearances.

According to the report, Real Madrid are interested in Tchouameni, however, their primary target in the summer is to sign Kylian Mbappe and Erling Braut Haaland. Therefore, they have pulled themselves out of the race for the 22-year-old.

The report further claims that the midfielder is aiming to play in the Premier League and apart from Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are also keen on signing the Frenchman.

Juventus are also keeping tabs on the highly-rated midfielder, but the Bianconeri can’t compete against the English clubs in the transfer market and the player is not willing to play in Serie A.

Our View:

Aurelien Tchouameni will be a great addition to the Manchester United squad. The Red Devils are currently without a proper holding midfielder at their disposal and signing a young midfielder will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy.

Although Nemanja Matic is one of the options for Ralf Rangnick, the Serbian is approaching his mid-30s and he has struggled to stay fit for a whole season over the past few campaigns.

The 22-year-old is quick, strong, good in distribution and also efficient in defending. Therefore, the youngster has every attribute to become a world-class holding midfielder.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently in search of a new permanent manager and they will not be able to make any move in the transfer market without finalizing the new boss. So, it will be interesting to see who will succeed Rangnick. Erik Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are reportedly favourites to take charge at Old Trafford.
