Manchester United will have to shift their focus to the Premier League after a Champions League victory against Atalanta, as they will have to encounter adversaries Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils had a terrible start to the game on Wednesday night, having conceded two goals inside the first 45 minutes. However, Solskjaer’s side displayed a terrific performance in the second half and completed a great comeback courtesy of the contributions from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In terms of team news provided by the club’s website, Marcus Rashford – who started his first game in midweek after a long injury layoff – has picked up a dead leg against La Dea and is in doubt for the weekend fixture.

The most concerning news provided by the manager is that the talisman Bruno Fernandes is in doubt for this encounter after sustaining a knock on Wednesday. But, the Norwegian boss has stated that the Portuguese is trying everything to make himself fit to start.

The other midfield option Fred has also suffered a knock against the Italian side and will be assessed ahead of the game on Sunday.

Meanwhile, after coming back from international duty unfit, Anthony Martial has returned to training with the first-team squad. He might be involved in the matchday squad, however, it will be too early for the Frenchman to start a game of this magnitude.

Raphael Varane will remain sidelined for this fixture, having suffered a groin issue during international duty with France and Amad Diallo will also be unavailable as the youngster hasn’t returned to full fitness after recovering from a muscular problem.

Having failed to win in their last three games in the Premier League, Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways, and it will be the perfect game against Liverpool to find a positive result and build the confidence to mount a title challenge.
