Manchester United team news and predicted line-up against Burnley

Following a disappointing defeat against Middlesbrough in the F.A Cup, Manchester United will travel to Turf Moor on Tuesday night to encounter the bottom side Burnley in the Premier League

The Red Devils started the game on the front foot against the Championship side but failed to take advantage of their chances. The visitors came back into the game in the second half and in the end, Chris Wilder’s side won the tie in penalties by 8-7. 

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick’s side can not afford any slip up from this encounter as they are fighting for the Champions League spot and dropping points on Tuesday will harden their quest for the top four finish. 

Manchester United team news against Burnley:

As per the club, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly were among the absentees in the last week’s fixture due to illness and a foot injury respectively and they are in doubt for Tuesday’s game as well. Jesse Lingard should return to the squad after taking a few days off for personal reasons. 

Meanwhile, after sustaining an injury, Jadon Sancho was substituted against Boro, and his fitness will be assessed ahead of the game. Edinson Cavani should return to the matchday squad for this encounter after a weekend off due to his involvement in the World Cup qualifiers. Fred and Alex Telles will be sidelined after tested positive for Covid-19.

Predicted Line-up:

David De Gea will start between the sticks ahead of Dean Henderson who was given a chance on Friday night. In defence, Raphael Varane will be paired up with the club captain Harry Maguire. Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw will keep their places in fullback. 

Scott McTominay is expected to be the deep-lying midfielder alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will be in the attacking midfield position. 

Marcus Rashford could start, with Anthony Elanga might be on the opposite flank. Cristiano Ronaldo will be the lone striker.
