Manchester United will welcome newly-promoted side Brentford on Monday night at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
Following back-to-back defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal, the Red Devils managed to come away with only one point against Chelsea in the previous game.
The record Premier League champions’ slim chance of finishing in the top four spot is all but over following the two North London giants’ victory during the weekend.
Manchester United are currently sixth in the table with 55 points in 35 games, eight points behind the fourth-placed Arsenal having played one extra game.
Meanwhile, the Europa League qualification is the realistic option for the Old Trafford outfit next season. So, they will have to win against the Bees in the last home game of this season.
Manchester United team news against Brentford:
Edinson Cavani, Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Fred and Luke Shaw were all among the absentees in the previous game against Chelsea. However, while Maguire, Cavani and Fred could be involved in this fixture, Sancho and Shaw will remain sidelined.
Paul Pogba will also miss out on this game due to injury issues, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jesse Lingard are in doubt ahead of this encounter.
There is no doubt that David De Gea will start between the sticks. Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof should continue at the heart of the defence, given neither of them has done anything wrong to be dropped from the starting eleven. Diogo Dalot will be on the right-back and Alex Telles should keep his place on the opposite side.
Nemanja Matic performed well against Chelsea last time around and could start as the deep-lying midfielder alongside Scott McTominay. Bruno Fernandes is expected to keep his place in the advanced midfielder role despite his poor display in recent games.
Marcus Rashford might start once again due to the absence of Jadon Sancho, however, the 24-years-old displayed a lacklustre performance against the Blues last Thursday and should be dropped on Monday night. Anthony Elanga will commence on the opposite flank, while Cristiano Ronaldo will be given the responsibility of leading the line for Manchester United.
Manchester United predicted line-up against Brentford(4-2-3-1):
David De Gea; Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Alex Telles; Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes; Anthony Elanga, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo
