Manchester United will be keen on getting back to winning ways on Tuesday night when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford in a crucial Premier League encounter.
Despite showcasing a promising first half, the Red Devils failed to overcome the challenge of Southampton as the game ended in 1-1. Jadon Sancho gave the lead midway through the first half but Che Adams equalized the game for the Saints soon after the interval.
Ralf Rangnick’s side continued to struggle in the second half despite showcasing a dominant first half as the same thing happened in the last three consecutive games. Following this result, the Old Trafford outfit are currently fifth in the table with 40 points in 24 games.
Manchester United team news against Brighton & Hove Albion:
As per the club’s website, having tested positive for Coronavirus, Fred wasn’t available in the previous two games but he has returned to training and could feature in this encounter. Eric Bailly also remained sidelined due to an ankle injury and he will be in doubt in midweek.
Edinson Cavani was withdrawn from the matchday squad due to a groin issue against the Saints and he might be unavailable on Tuesday, while Nemanja Matic will also miss out as a consequence of a shin injury.
David De Gea will continue between the sticks, while Raphael Varane will also keep his place at the heart of the defence. Harry Maguire’s form is a point of concern for the Old Trafford club and therefore, Victor Lindelof could be summoned to play alongside the Frenchman against the Seagulls.
Diogo Dalot will be the right fullback and Alex Telles should start ahead of Luke Shaw on the opposite side.
Meanwhile, Scott McTominay will start as the deep-lying midfielder, while Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba could be the two box-to-box midfielders in the 4-3-3 formation.
Despite struggling to showcase his best in recent times, Marcus Rashford continues to start on the flanks. But, Anthony Elanga might return to the starting eleven on Tuesday night and Jadon Sancho will be on the other flank.
Cristiano Ronaldo is struggling to perform at his best since the arrival of Rangnick. However, the striker will keep his place as there aren’t many options available at the German tactician’s disposal.
