After two weeks lay off since the last game against Brighton, Manchester United will return to action on Sunday to face off Crystal Palace in the final game of this season.
The Red Devils displayed a lacklustre performance against the Seagulls last time around and endured an agonizing 4-0 defeat. Ralf Rangnick’s side were second best to every challenge that afternoon and could not find their feet throughout the 90 minutes.
The record Premier League champions will be approaching this game with the ambition of securing their place in the Europa League. The Red Devils need to match West Ham’s result on the final day to achieve their goal. The Hammers will be travelling to the AMEX Stadium on the same day and both games will start at the same time.
Manchester United team news against Crystal Palace:
After a two week break, many players will be returning from injury issues ahead of this encounter. Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho and Eric Bailly were all spotted in the training clips that were posted by the club. And it will become clear how many of them are ready to feature in this game following Rangnick’s pre-match press conference.
However, Paul Pogba could remain sidelined due to injury issues and it is likely that he has played his last game for the Red Devils.
David De Gea will continue between the sticks, while Harry Maguire could return to the heart of defence alongside Raphael Varane. Diogo Dalot is expected to keep hold of his place in the right-back position and Alex Telles should be on the opposite side.
Nemanja Matic has performed well in recent games and therefore, he should start alongside Fred. Scott McTominay has struggled to showcase his best since recovering from injury. So, dropping him from the starting line-up could be a wise decision. Bruno Fernandes will start in the advanced midfield position.
Jadon Sancho should return to the starting eleven, while Marcus Rashford could commence on the opposite flank. Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for Manchester United.
New boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly landed in England and might be present on the ground to watch this game. So, it will be interesting to see how much influence he will have on the team selection on Sunday.
Manchester United predicted line-up against Crystal Palace(4-2-3-1):
