Following a disappointing draw against Leicester City last weekend, Manchester United will travel to Merseyside to encounter Everton on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Red Devils displayed a lacklustre performance against the Foxes and only managed to come away with one point thanks to a second-half goal by Fred.
Despite losing ground in finishing in the top four spot in the previous game, Arsenal’s heavy defeat against Crystal Palace has revived United’s chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Ralf Rangnick’s side are currently sitting in seventh in the league with 51 points in 30 games, three points behind the fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal are fifth in the table with the same number of points as their arch-rival, having played one less game.
Manchester United team news against Everton:
Cristiano Ronaldo could not feature in last week’s game due to illness but he will return to action on Saturday. While Luke Shaw had to be taken off at the interval against the Foxes as a consequence of an injury and he will be in doubt ahead of this encounter.
Meanwhile, Rangnick has stated that Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay will also remain sidelined on Saturday.
David De Gea will start between the sticks and in front of the Spaniard, the back four should be Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles.
Nemanja Matic will start as the deep-lying midfielder alongside Fred. Bruno Fernandes played as a false nine against Leicester last time around but he will return to his preferred position, given Ronaldo is expected to return to the starting eleven.
Jadon Sancho will keep his place on the left-wing, while Anthony Elanga should start on the opposite side. Marcus Rashford could come into the action in the second half.
Manchester United’s predicted line-up against Everton(4-2-3-1):
