Manchester United to miss out on yet another Rangnick transfer suggestion

Manchester United could miss out on a transfer suggestion of Ralf Rangnick as RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer is heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

The German boss will be taking over the advisory role following the conclusion of his tenure as the interim boss at the end of this season. Rangnick has already discussed potential signings with the club and has suggested a few names who could be a good fit for Manchester United.

Recent reports are claiming the Austrian midfielder Konrad Laimer is one of the players who are on Rangnick’s list. The 24-years-old’s current contract will expire at the end of next season and he will be a feasible solution to the record Premier League champions’ midfield issues.

However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Bayern Munich have also entered the race to sign the highly-rated midfielder and the Bavarians’ boss Julian Nagelsmann is keen on signing Konrad Laimer in the summer. Romano tweeted:

“FC Bayern are preparing an opening bid around €18/20m to begin talks with RB Leipzig for Konrad Laimer – it won’t be easy but Bayern want him. Julian Nagelsmann is pushing to sign Laimer.”

Our View:

Manchester United have been struggling with their midfield issues since the start of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure. But, the Norwegian boss surprisingly ignored the main issue in his squad.

The United legend signed Donny van de Beek back in 2020 but never gave him enough chances to showcase his talent, playing a handful of games before being loaned out to Everton in January.

Meanwhile, following the dismissal of Solskjaer, the interim boss Ralf Rangnick realized the main issue in the squad and wanted to sign a midfielder in January. But, the Red Devils hierarchy turned down the German boss’ demand.

So, the incoming boss Erik ten Hag’s first signing should be a new world-class holding midfielder. Apart from Nemanja Matic, Manchester United do not have any defensive midfielder in their squad. With the Serbian set to leave the club at the end of this season, signing a young and talented defensive midfielder will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy.
