Transfer news now: Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has reportedly given the green light to the club’s hierarchy to continue their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as per the report in English outlet The Sun

The 22-year-old is enjoying a stellar campaign this term, scoring a solitary goal and assisting four times in 19 Premier League appearances. The Englishman has already made more goal contributions in this season than he has ever done in his time at the London Stadium.

According to the report, the Red Devils are looking to lay their groundwork in the next few months in order to sign Declan Rice at the end of this season. The Old Trafford outfit have been handed a big boost over the last month to break a deal for the England International after the Hammers’ poor display on the pitch which have jeopardized their chances to qualify for the Champions League.

The 22-year-old’s current contract will expire in June 2024 and he will have two more years in his contract at the end of this season. So, David Moyes’ side could ask for around £100 million to sell their star man in summer. However, if they fail to match the player’s ambitions which is to play in Europe’s elite club competition then the Hammers might have to sell him cheaper than the aforementioned fee.

The report further claims that Manchester City and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the situation of Declan Rice and could make a move for the England international. Therefore, it will be tough for the Red Devils hierarchy to sign the 22-year-old in the summer.

Transfer news now: Can Manchester United secure a deal for Declan Rice?

Transfer news now: Signing Declan Rice will be a great acquisition for Manchester United. The midfielder has already showcased his talent at the London Stadium and has also secured a place in Gareth Southgate’s England national squad.

So, there is no doubt about the quality of the Englishman. With the Red Devils looking to sign a new defensive midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, landing Rice at the Old Trafford stadium will be a perfect addition to the Manchester United squad.

The midfielder can be deployed at the defensive midfield position, box to box role and also at the heart of the defence. So, the England International’s versatility would be a great asset for the United boss, if the Red Devils hierarchy can pull off this deal in the summer.

Meanwhile, after securing 10 points in four games under Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United will go head-to-head against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Old Trafford stadium on Monday night. The Red Devils boss will be looking to keep their winning run going in this encounter to close the gap with the fourth-placed Arsenal.
