Bundesliga expert Florian Plettenberg has impulsed Manchester United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick to sign Bayern Munich’s wantaway star Niklas Sule.

The 26-year-old has been enjoying a productive time at the Allianz Arena since joining the club back in 2017, helping the Bavarians to win four league titles and one Champions League trophy. However, having entered the final six months of his current contract, the Germany international has turned down a contract extension offer and is willing to leave the club for free.

Speaking with Manchester Evening News, Plettenberg has stated that Sule is eager to play in the Premier League and the defender feels that this is the right time to make the move.

The Bundesliga expert further claims that Manchester United will be the perfect destination for Sule, given he has the necessary qualities to improve the Red Devils’ defence. Plettenberg said:

“He wants to play in the Premier League, and he wants to move. Now he wants to make that move. And I think that if Manchester United, or especially Ralf Rangnick, are 100% aware of Niklas Sule, they will definitely go for him because he’s such an interesting player. He is a national player. He’s in good shape right now. So it’s the player who can definitely improve Manchester United.”

Our View:

Niklas Sule could be a very good signing for Manchester United. The defender has displayed excellent performance during his time at the Allianz Arena and the Red Devils’ fans will be expecting that the German can replicate the same performance at the Old Trafford stadium, should the club hierarchy manage to finalise a deal.

With Harry Maguire struggling to showcase his best this season and Eric Bailly having failed to gain the trust of interim manager Ralf Rangnick, strengthening the defence could be a shrewd decision by the Red Devils.

However, given the 63-year-old boss already has five centre-backs at his disposal, adding another one might not be a good decision, without trimming down the numbers. So, it will be interesting to see what the Red Devils hierarchy decide to do about their defensive issue.

Meanwhile, after entering the international break with back-to-back victories in the Premier League, Rangnick’s side will be hoping to keep the winning run going when they face Middlesbrough next in the F.A Cup fourth round.
