Manchester United’s senior players are reportedly questioning the ability of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in order to achieve the lofty ambitions of the club, as per the report from British journalist Duncan Castles.

Despite enduring six defeats in the last 12 games in all competitions, the Red Devils hierarchy haven’t made any decisions on the Norwegian’s future. The Old Trafford outfit have already dropped outside the top four spots and are nine points behind the league leader Chelsea, despite being touted as the contender to win the title this term before the start of the season.

Speaking on PLC’s Transfer Window podcast Duncan Castles stated that it is surprising to see that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still Manchester United’s manager, given the Old Trafford outfit’s recent performances.

The journalist further claimed that few experienced members of the squad have started to doubt the Norwegian’s ability and believe that the Red Devils should perform much better, given the squad the 48-year-old has at his disposal. Castles said:

“It’s actually amazing that he’s still in a job, given the results and the nature of the work he has done leading up to those results. Given the response of the dressing room, where there are now very senior members of the Manchester United squad briefing off-record that they feel that the coach has to change if they are to achieve what they expect to be able to achieve with the quality of the squad they have gathered there.”

Solskjaer could still be Manchester United manager:

Despite the recent downfall of Manchester United, the club hierarchy haven’t shown any urgency to change the situation around. They are still keeping faith in the Norwegian boss and hoping that the situation might change in the upcoming weeks.

However, the 48-year-old has looked out of his depth in the recent fixtures and hasn’t shown any signs of improvement. He experimented with different formations, following the 5-0 defeat against Liverpool. But, the performances didn’t look promising and it has created even more doubt about the Norweigan’s ability.

So, it will be interesting to see what Manchester United decide about the future of Solskjaer. Dismissing the Norwegian boss and bringing in a more tactically efficient manager will be a shrewd decision by the Red Devils hierarchy.
