Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is reportedly under the radar of Newcastle United and West Ham United as per the report in English outlet The Guardian

Following an impressive loan stint with the Hammers last term, former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to keep the 29-year-old. However, the midfielder has failed to break into the first eleven, making only two starts this season and all of those came in the cup competitions.

According to the report written by Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United are keen on doing some business in this January transfer window and Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is among Eddie Howe’s wishlist.

The report further claims that West Ham United haven’t given up their pursuit of the Englishman just yet and are looking to sign the 29-year-old in this upcoming transfer window.

Will Manchester United sell Lingard to any of Newcastle or West Ham in this January transfer window?

Selling Jesse Lingard in January will be a very good decision from Manchester United. The midfielder’s current contract will expire at the end of this season and the Englishman hasn’t shown any desire to extend the contract. So, rather than losing the academy graduate for free, the Red Devils should cash in on the 29-year-old.

However, the new interim manager Ralf Rangnick might want to assess the midfielder’s ability in a few more games before making the final decision. Lingard started the consolation game against Young Boys in the Champions League and might get a few more opportunities as the German boss’ 4-2-2-2 system could be a perfect formation for the Englishman.

So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Jesse Lingard. Cashing in on the England International might be a good decision from a business point of view, given his contract will expire at the end of this season. But, Rangnick might have a different plan for the 29-year-old’s future.

Meanwhile, after midweek’s game against Brentford was postponed, Manchester United will have to encounter Brighton & Hove Albion in their next game at Old Trafford stadium on Saturday. However, it is not clear yet if that game will take place or not. The Red Devils have suffered a Covid-19 outbreak and few players have been sent home.
