Pogba and Rashford to start – Manchester United team news and predicted lineup against Middlesbrough

Manchester United will return to the action on Friday night against the Championship side Middlesbrough in the F.A Cup fourth-round tie at Old Trafford. 

The Red Devils ended the last month on a higher note after overcoming the challenges of Brentford and West Ham United in the Premier League. So, United will be looking to keep their winning run going against Chris Wilder’s side. 

Ralf Rangnick’s side progressed through to this round after beating Aston Villa by 1-0 and the Boro had to overcome the challenge of Mansfield Town in the previous round.

Manchester United team news against Middlesbrough:

As per the team news provided by the club’s website, Victor Lindelof will be out from tomorrow’s game due to illness, while Eric Bailly will also be unavailable as a consequence of a minor injury. Jesse Lingard is set to miss out after taking a few days off.

Jadon Sancho is ready to be involved following his absence in the previous two games on account of a personal reason. Having been sidelined due to illness in the last few games, Aaron Wan-Bissaka should return to the matchday squad in this fixture. Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba are both in contention to start.

Meanwhile, Fred, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani were involved with their national team in the World Cup qualifier and the boss has confirmed that the latter two will be given a rest against the Championship side. 

Predicted Line-up:

David De Gea will continue between the sticks for Manchester United. In front of the Spaniard, Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw should be the back four. 

Scott McTominay will start as the holding midfielder. Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba could be the two number eights in the 4-3-3 system. 

Anthony Elanga might keep his place on the left wing and Marcus Rashford will start on the other flank. Cristiano Ronaldo should be the lone striker for Rangnick’s side.
