‘Pogba out and McFred in’ – Manchester United Team News and Predicted Line-up against Atalanta

Following a disappointing away defeat to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, Manchester United will have to shift their focus on the next challenge against Atalanta in the Champions League.

Having led the game against the Foxes through a wonderful strike from Mason Greenwood, the Red Devils could not hold the lead for long and conceded the equaliser before the interval. In the end, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side leaked three more cheap goals and ended their long unbeaten run away from home in the Premier League.

In terms of Manchester United team news against Atalanta, David De Gea will keep his place between the sticks as the Spaniard has been the most consistent performer so far this season for the Old Trafford outfit. Despite displaying a poor performance against his former side, Harry Maguire is looking likely to keep his place alongside Victor Lindelof as the new signing Raphael Varane will have to remain sidelined after sustaining a groin injury on international duty.

As per the club website, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be eligible to take part in this encounter after UEFA abated his two-match ban following a fruitful request by Solskjaer’s side. And Luke Shaw should continue in the left full-back position against La Dea.

Following the defeat on Saturday, Solskjaer mentioned that his side lacked energy and therefore, it is most likely that the Norwegian will pick his preferred midfield options Fred and McTominay. The former could not feature in the last game due to a late return from international involvement.

Bruno Fernandes will be given the duty to create chances for the forward players. Greenwood and Sancho will have the responsibility to stretch the opposition back three from the flanks to create holes in La Dea’s backline. Marcus Rashford marked his return from his shoulder surgery on Saturday with a goal, but he will likely to start from the bench again in this game.

Anthony Martial had to be sidelined for the previous encounter after returning from international duty unfit and the former Monaco man will not be able to feature in this game as well. Edinson Cavani will be available for this encounter but it is very likely that Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for Manchester United.

Manchester United possible starting lineup against Atalanta(4-2-3-1):

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo
