Premier League match this week: Team News

Premier League match this week: In terms of team news provided by the club’s website, captain Harry Maguire will be suspended for this crucial encounter after picking up a red card in the previous game against Watford last weekend. In addition to that, Paul Pogba will remain sidelined along with fellow countryman Raphael Varane due to injuries.

Meanwhile, having tested positive for Covid-19, Mason Greenwood will also be out of this game. After sustaining a tendon injury before the international break, Edinson Cavani hasn’t been involved in any of the last few games since and might miss out on Sunday’s encounter as well.

Having suffered a concussion problem against the Hornets, Luke Shaw didn’t travel with the squad for the Champions League encounter in midweek, but he might return to the starting eleven against the Blues. Fred picked up an ankle injury in midweek and is also in doubt.

Manchester United predicted line-up against Chelsea:

Premier League match this week: After implementing back four against Villarreal, the caretaker manager Michael Carrick could go with back five against Thomas Tuchel’s side, especially due to the fact that Harry Maguire will be suspended for this encounter.

David De Gea will start in goal and his current display between the sticks has made him the first name on the team sheet. In front of the Spaniard, Carrick might go with three centre-backs and Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw could start at the heart of the defence.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start on the right wing-back position and Alex Telles might get his back to back starts on the other flank. Fred and Scott McTominay will have the duty to shield the defence from the midfield. Bruno Fernandes might return to the starting eleven ahead of Donny Van De Beek.

It will be interesting to see if Carrick will decide to go with two upfront or not. However, having displayed a promising performance in the midweek, it will be hard to keep Jadon Sancho out from the starting eleven. Therefore, the young Englishman might start alongside Bruno in the attacking midfield position and Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for the Red Devils.

Marcus Rashford could come in the second half to cause opposition problems with his speed as he did against Villarreal on Tuesday night.

Manchester United predicted line-up against Chelsea(3-4-2-1):

De Gea; Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw; Wan-Bissaka, Fred, McTominay, Telles; Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo

Chelsea 2-1 Manchester United

Chelsea are currently on a great run and displaying excellent performences. Therefore, it might be tough for Manchester United to come away with a positive result against the league leaders.
