Ralf Rangnick is reportedly doubtful about the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino and the German boss wants to see Erik Ten Hag as the next Manchester United boss, as per the report in French outlet Le Parisien.
Following disappointing performances under the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils hierarchy decided to sack the Norwegian and appoint the German tactician for the interim role until the end of this season. After finishing the interim role, the 63-year-old will serve the club as a consultant for the next two years.
According to the report, Manchester United are in contact with the PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentine is the number one target for the Red Devils hierarchy to take over the managerial position at the end of this season. Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is also on the wishlist for the record Premier League champions.
The report further claims that Rangnick is not keen on appointing Pochettino, given the Argentine has failed to bring the best out of a talented PSG squad and the German boss would prefer Erik Ten Hag as the next Manchester United manager.
Should Manchester United go for Teg Hag over Pochettino after the suggestion of Rangnick?
Appointing Erik Ten Hag as the next Manchester United manager will be a great acquisition for the Red Devils. The Dutchman has already showcased his managerial prowess with Ajax by leading a young side to the semi-final of the Champions League and yet again rebuilding another de Godenzonen team with the right blend of youth and experience.
Despite displaying entertaining football during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Pochettino has failed to deliver silverware for the north London club. And the Argentine also missed out on winning the Ligue 1 title with PSG last term. Meanwhile, the 49-year-old has failed to bring the best out of a world-class front four of Neymar, Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria this season.
Therefore, bringing Erik Ten Hag over Pochettino could be an apt decision by Ralf Rangnick. However, it will be interesting to see how the Red Devils finish this season. As the German boss has already expressed his desire to continue as the United boss beyond this campaign if the record Premier League champions show improvement on the pitch.
