Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo, as per the report in English outlet Football Insider

The 36-year-old joined the Old Trafford outfit this summer from Juventus and took no time to settle down in his second spell with the Premier League giants, scoring 12 goals and notching up two assists in 17 appearances in all competitions.

According to the report, Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo with Manchester United and could make a surprise move in January as the Spanish giants believe that Ralf Rangnick’s appointment could clear up the way of making a move for the Portuguese in the winter transfer window.

The report further claims that there is a feeling inside the Red Devils dressing room that the 36-year-old is not suited for the German boss’ style of play and the Portuguese superstar might fall down in the pecking order under the new interim manager.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United and join Real Madrid in January?

Despite producing consistent performances since arriving at Manchester United, there are consistent criticisms about the 36-year-old’s lack of work rate without being in possession. However, the Portuguese has shown that he can press the opposition if the team presses collectively in the previous game against Crystal Palace.

Ralf Rangnick has also praised Cristiano Ronaldo after the Arsenal and Crystal Palace game for his fitness and work rate. Along with that, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that the Red Devils’ new interim boss has already clarified that the 36-year-old will be a key member of his system before taking charge.

Therefore, there are no reasons for Manchester United to sell Cristiano Ronaldo in January, given the forward has scored the most number of goals so far this season for the club and also single-handedly carried the team to the Champions League knock-out stage.

Meanwhile, after a 1-1 draw against Young Boys in midweek, Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they meet Norwich City in their next game on Saturday evening. There will be favourable fixtures ahead for the Red Devils and the German boss will be looking to earn as many points as possible from these encounters to secure the Champions League spot.
