Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly urged the wantaway Red Devils stars to leave the club before the end of next month as per the report in the English outlet Daily Star.
The 20 times English champions have appointed Erik ten Hag as their new manager and following the Dutchman’s Eredivisie triumph with Ajax in midweek, the 52-year-old has intensified his planning of rebuilding the Old Trafford outfit.
Ten Hag has reportedly held a meeting with the Red Devils’ football director John Murtough, while the Dutchman’s assistant Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren were also present in this meeting.
Meanwhile, as per the report, Erik ten Hag has reportedly asked the players to leave the club who are not fully committed to playing for Manchester United. The 52-year-old has told this desire to the club’s new CEO Richard Arnold and said he wants them to be sold before the end of next month or be released.
The report further claims that Manchester United will travel to Asia and Australia in early July for the pre-season tour and Ten Hag does not want to include those wantaway stars and jeopardize the squad harmony.
Erik Ten Hag is showing leadership qualities and ruthlessness in assembling his Manchester United squad. This is an absolute necessity, given the Dutchman will inherit a dysfunctional and underperforming squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer created a toxic atmosphere inside the dressing room by giving false promises of game-time to numerous players but had never provided them the necessary playing time.
Meanwhile, this situation carried forward to the interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s tenure and the situation got even worse. So, the Red Devils need a strong character inside the dressing room who can control these situations and be ruthless enough to get rid of the bad apples.
Manchester United will end this season with the worst point tally as well as the worst defensive display in their Premier League history. So, the Dutchman will have a daunting task ahead to take this club back to the summit.
