Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is reportedly leading the race to become the next Manchester United manager as per the report in English outlet The Sun

Mauricio Pochettino was previously mentioned as the favourite to replace Ralf Rangnick following the conclusion of this season. However, recent reports are suggesting that the Dutchman is now ahead of the PSG boss in succeeding the German.

According to the report, following extensive analysis, Manchester United have now reached the conclusion that Ten Hag will be a better appointment than Pochettino. The Red Devils are keen on finalizing their search for the new manager before the end of this season in order to give the new boss ample time to identify his targets in the transfer market.

The report further claimed that Ten Hag has the potential to stay at the Old Trafford stadium for at least five years and take the club back to the summit. The Red Devils hierarchy believe that the Dutchman will not only attract world-class talents but also be able to keep hold of the stars whose future are currently in doubt at the record Premier League champions.

Our View:

Signing Erik Ten Hag will be a very good appointment for Manchester United. However, it will not be guaranteed that he will be able to bring success at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils hierarchy have previously shown their ineptitude in the transfer market and there is no guarantee that things will be different this time. The new manager might want to offload some of the players and bring some new faces. However, the club have struggled to sell players in recent years and therefore, the Dutchman might end up with the same players who have failed to deliver over the past few campaigns.

Meanwhile, Manchester United currently have Ralf Rangnick at the club and taking advantage of the 63-year-old’s wisdom could be a beneficiary for the club in the transfer market. However, recent reports are claiming that the Red Devils hierarchy haven’t made any contacts with the German boss regarding the club’s development.

Therefore, although the Old Trafford faithful are excited about the new manager’s appointment, they should not get carried away with it, given the same board members are making the football decisions despite their failures over the past decade.
