Manchester United’s impending boss Erik Ten Hag has reportedly expressed his desire to sign AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni as per the report in ESPN

The midfielder is enjoying a stellar campaign this term at the Stade Louis ll, scoring a solitary goal in 29 Ligue 1 appearances. The Frenchman also got his senior international debut in September last year.

As per the report, Ten Hag will present his transfer targets to the Red Devils’ recruitment department following the finalisation of the Dutchman’s appointment. And the Monaco man Aurelien Tchouameni will be on the 52-year-old’s wishlist.

The report further claimed that the Ligue 1 outfit are ready to negotiate about their youngster’s potential departure and a fee of around €60-70 million will be enough to persuade the Monégasques into selling their star midfielder.

PSG have reportedly shown interest in the highly-rated youngster. However, the 22-year-old is eyeing a move away from France. Chelsea were also credited with an interest but the Red Devils are currently leading the race due to the Blues’ uncertainty surrounding their ownership situation.

Our View:

Aurelien Tchouameni will be a great acquisition for Manchester United. The Red Devils have been struggling with their defensive midfield issues for the past few campaigns and signing the 22-year-old will resolve the problem.

With Nemanja Matic struggling to find regular first-team action and Paul Pogba looking likely to leave the club at the end of this season, signing a new midfielder will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy.

The Monaco man can play anywhere across the midfield and the youngster’s versatility will be an asset for United in years to come. The Frenchman is quick, strong, good in the air, can play threading passes between the lines and also has an eye for long passing. Therefore, Tchouameni has every attribute to establish himself as a starter under the impending boss Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Following a disappointing defeat against Everton last weekend, Manchester United lost more ground in the top four race. The Red Devils are currently six points behind the fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with only seven matches to go this season.
