After beating West Ham United in the Premier League by 2-1, Manchester United will encounter the same opposition once again in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils produced an impressive performance against the Hammers in London Stadium and will be hoping to replicate that display at home this time around. Despite having a good start on Sunday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side found themselves behind by Said Benrahma’s long-range effort.

However, United came away with all three points thanks to the contributions from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard before David De Gea saved a stoppage-time penalty.

In terms of the team news, Solskjaer is expected to rotate his squad and give chances to his fringe players in this cup competition. De Gea will be rested for this game and Tom Heaton might start as Dean Henderson has not recovered full-fitness yet.

The Norwegian manager likes to keep on playing captain Harry Maguire no matter what and alongside him, Victor Lindelof will be the centre-back pairing. Diogo Dalot should start on the right and Luke Shaw will be on the left as Alex Telles will need few more weeks to consider as the starter.

Donny van de Beek will be deployed in the midfield pivot alongside veteran Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard will start in the attacking midfield position. After starting the last game at the London stadium, Scott McTominay will be rested as he just returned from groin surgery and Fred will also be given the midweek off as he has played every game so far this season.

Having played three games in just 7 days, 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the bench for this encounter. Anthony Martial should start in the centre-forward position as Edinson Cavani hasn’t fully recovered yet from a minor injury.

After a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho hasn’t been able to produce his best so far this season, so he will start on the flank in this game as he needs game time to settle down. Juan Mata will be the other one to start on the right flank.

Manchester United Predicted Line-up against West Ham(4-2-3-1):

Heaton; Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Van de Beek, Lingard; Sancho, Mata, Martial
