Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar has sent wishes to Donny Van de Beek following the midfielder’s loan move to Everton.
The 24-years-old joined the Red Devils with high hopes and pedigree. However, the Dutchman has struggled to break into the starting eleven of former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the interim boss Ralf Rangnick. He only made four starts in the Premier League during this period.
Following a frustrating 18 months at the Old Trafford stadium, Donny Van De Beek has decided to join Everton on loan until the end of this season. There hasn’t been any buy option included in the loan deal as the Red Devils hierarchy still believe that the Dutchman might have a future at the theatre of dreams.
Meanwhile, commenting on an Instagram post of Van de Beek, Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar has sent best wishes to the midfielder. The former keeper said:
“Better luck with this new club in the north west of England Donny!” with a clapping emoji at the end.
The duo previously worked together at Ajax, and Van der Sar played a key part in finalizing the 24-years-old’s move to the Old Trafford stadium.
Sending Donny Van De Beek on loan is the right decision by Manchester United. The midfielder hasn’t featured in any of the Premier League games this season, therefore, offloading the 24-years-old from the wage bill was the perfect decision.
Meanwhile, it has been a mystery as to why the Netherlands international hasn’t been given proper chances to showcase his talent despite poor displays from the other midfielders. Fred and Scott McTominay have started in almost every game but, both have failed to perform consistently enough at the Old Trafford stadium.
The move to Everton will be a big opportunity for Van de Beek to showcase his talent in the Premier League and learn under the tutelage of Frank Lampard. The Englishman’s coaching philosophy will benefit the Dutchman to flourish at Goodison Park.
Following the conclusion of the International break, Manchester United will return to action on Friday night in the F.A Cup fourth round fixture against Middlesbrough. Ralf Rangnick will be hoping to surpass the challenge of the Championship side and they should aim to go all the way in this competition in order to overcome the trophy drought.
